With the passing away of Captain Bill Reid, Ingrid Marie is now for sale. This boat is the classic Jeanneau Lagoon 37 foot catamaran. She is laid out with four cabins and the galley above, a very rare combination that has proved to be an excellent layout. Ingrid Marie was lived aboard by her captain and is in very good condition. She is presently lying at anchor in Curacao.

The asking price is $150,000 US. For more information please contact Dwight Yachuk at dwightyachuk@fastmail.fm.

Over the last several years we have sailed more than 50,000 ocean miles, including two crossings of the Atlantic, passages in the North and Baltic Seas, and many miles in the Caribbean. We like to travel and we like to do it by sail.

Most of our time is spent along what can be thought of as “The Columbus Route,” a roughly circular route pioneered by that great explorer which leads from the European coast South and West to the Caribbean, then North and East back to Europe. This route takes full advantage of patterns of wind and current which results in lots of good sailing and a minimum of bashing to weather. It also leads us through some fascinating and stunningly beautiful areas of the world, a few of which are well known and sometimes over-exploited, while many remain little known and pristine.

Long passages are challenging. There is no thrill quite as great as the view from the deck of a small boat as a new continent appears on the horizon. But shorter passages are enjoyable as well, not to mention times full of leisurely day sails from one beautiful anchorage to the next.

This season (2005-06) we will not be passaging to Europe but staying in the Caribbean from Guadeloupe South and along the Venezuelan Coast with its very special out-islands. The main reason for this is that the captain has fallen in love with Venezuela and bets you will too if you like the path somewhat less travelled.

Apart from the spectacular beauty of the South American coastal zone, the area we will be cruising also includes the sophistication of the French Islands (Guadeloupe, Martinique, etc.), the wildness of Dominica, and the world-famous cruising grounds of St. Lucia, St. Vincent, the Grenadines and Grenada in the Lesser Antilles.
